Dead by Daylight: Totems bring that
Dead by Daylight has recently added totems that you can destroy. In this article we show you what exactly these totems are all about.
General information about the totems
- There are 5 totems in each game and on each card.
- For killers, the totems are represented with an aura. So you can see the totems as well as generators.
- There is a special totem, which gives more points in the destruction. This is covered with a curse that the witch in particular uses.
- You can recognize cursed totems by the glow and the lit candles.
- You don't need a toolbox to destroy a totem. No skill checks are triggered either.
The totem benefits for the killer
When using curses as perks, you need the totems to connect you and the survivors.
- The "Depleted Hope" curse gives you charges when a survivor is saved from the hook.
- One charge slows down the repair speed, with three you can send survivors to the ground with an attack, and with five charges you can kill the survivors on your own.
- With "Thrill of Hunting" you also get charges when a survivor is saved from the hook.
- You get more blood points in the hunting category and the survivors' destruction rate is reduced.
- It is important that you are at least 24 meters from the hook. Otherwise, both curses are not charged.
- "The Third Seal" reduces a survivor's aura reading ability by 100% if you hit him while the cursed totem is active.
- With "Ruin" you hinder survivors in their repairs. Depending on the level of the perk, all survivors can be affected.
- This curse ensures that a good skill check causes a 5% drop in the generator. A great skill check also no longer grants a bonus.
- If the cursed totem is destroyed, affected perks are grayed out.
You can do that as a survivor
As a survivor, you should definitely destroy the totems.
- For destroying a totem you get 400 points in the "Bravery" category.
- If you destroy a cursed totem, you will even get 800 blood points.
- Be as careful as possible when destroying, because you also make noise.
- The killer also sees when a totem is no longer displayed for him. So it could reveal your position.
