Kernel update on Debian Linux: how to do it
- Before you get started, we recommend that you back up all of the folders on your server. So you are on the safe side.
- If you offer your server, you should also inform your users that the server will be updated.
- Then enter "dpkg –audit" in the terminal to ensure that all packages are ready for the update.
- Then use "apt-get update" to update the packages before continuing.
- Now you can perform a minimal system upgrade with the "apt-get upgrade" command.
- If this works without errors, enter "apt-get dist-upgrade" to install the kernel update. Wait for the process to finish.
