Debian: Install NTP server - how it works
If you want to install an NTP server on your Debian Linux server, only a few steps are required. Read this practical tip to find out exactly how to do this.
Install NTP server under Debian - so it'll work
- First open the terminal and enter the following command: "apt-get install ntp". Confirm with [Enter].
- Now connect to the server via FTP and open the "ntp.conf" file in the "/ etc /" folder.
- You must enter the following servers here so that the time can be synchronized:
- server ntp1.hetzner.de iburst
- server ntp2.hetzner.com iburst
- server ntp3.hetzner.net iburst
- Finally you have to synchronize the time with "ntpd -q -g" in the terminal.
- For security, use "hwclock –systohc" to write the time in the hardware clock.
