How to update your Debian system
To update you have to run the supplied command line. Make sure that you are logged in as admin beforehand.
- Once you have opened the command line, you can now start updating the system.
- Enter the command "apt-get update" and confirm with [Enter].
- On some Linux systems, the command can also be "apitude-get update".
- Read the following information carefully. You have to confirm some requests with [J].
- Then the download starts. Wait for it to finish successfully.
- Afterwards you have to enter the command "apt-get upgrade" and confirm with [Enter], so that the entire system including all packages is updated.
- Confirm here again with [J] and wait until the downloads have been successfully completed.
- Once all updates have been successfully installed, you can close the console. For security reasons, however, you should restart the system once.
