Debian: Set up VNC server - how it works
You can set up a VNC server in Linux Debian with just a few simple steps. We show you step by step on this page how this works.
Setting up VNC server on Debian: Instructions
A VNC server can be easily integrated into Debian. Here's how to do it:
- First update the package list with the command "apt-get update".
- Then download the required package with the command "apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies gnome-icon-theme tightvncserver".
- Then start the installation with "apt-get install iceweasel". Wait for it to complete.
- You can then simply start your VNC server with the "vncserver" command.
- Note: In order for the server to function correctly, you must open port 5901 in your firewall.
- When starting the server for the first time, select the "Use default config" option. The server is now ready for use.
Instructions: Enable ports in the firewall
These instructions refer to Windows, but differ only slightly from Debian.
