On the Mac or MacBook, you can use the keyboard shortcut to display the desktop (called the Apple jargon desk). This is particularly useful if you have many documents or windows open.
Show Mac desktop via shortcut
You can use two different key combinations to open the desk and move all open windows to the side:
- The keyboard shortcut "cmd" + "Exposé" (F3) pushes all open documents over the edge of the display, so that you only see the desktop. Press the combination again, all windows come back and you see the one that was last in the foreground.
- With the key combination "fn" + "louder" (F11) you achieve the same result.
Tip: Under Mac OS X you can also quickly call up the desktop via the so-called "active corners". You can configure which corner does what yourself using the system settings. The instructions refer to a MacBook Air 13-inch, Mid 2012 under OS X 10.8.3.
