Destiny: This is how exotic forays work
Exotic forays in Destiny are very rare and the only reliable source of exotic weapons. We show you what exotic forays there are, what special tasks you have to do and what rewards you can expect.
Get exotic forays in Destiny - Here's how
Unfortunately, you have no control over when you receive which exotic forays.
- Submitting a completed vanguard raid has a 1-2 percent chance of getting an exotic raid.
- The only way to increase your chances is by submitting more forays. It is best to take care of all the normal forays available every day.
- When you get the chance for an exotic raid, you can always choose between 3 different ones. Depending on the selection, you will have to complete other tasks and will end up with different weapons.
- Most exotic forays require you to complete one or more strikes, kill other Keeper in PvP, and buy items from Xur the Black Market Merchant.
Exotic forays in Destiny
There are currently five exotic forays. We have summarized what you have to do:
- "A light in the dark": For this exotic raid you have to kill 500 Guardians in PvP with empty damage as a special challenge. The quickest way to do this is with grenades or a weapon with the appropriate type of damage. As a reward you will receive "Dorn", a handgun with high penetration.
- "Toland's Legacy": After completing any 25 strikes, you must score 10, 000 points in PvP. The quickest way to do this is with weapons that have a high level of penetration, as you will then be credited with more kills. In the end you get "Bad Karma", an exotic pulse rifle. This weapon has an automatic mode when you hold down the shoot button.
- "A strange task": This exotic foraging has it all. In between you have to get a "Kill-Death Score" of 25 or better in PvP. So you have to kill players more often than you die. It is best to play with friends and stay in the background. At the end you get access to "Insult", a shotgun with self-regenerating ammunition and solar damage.
- "Smashed memory fragment": You can find the damaged ghost on the Venus patrol, behind the first large statue in the building. You will later have to disassemble a total of ten blue or better fusion rifles. If you want to have this weapon, it's best to start collecting the weapons early enough. As a reward you get the "Infinity", a fusion rifle with solar damage. This means that you will automatically find more ammunition later and misses will be returned to your magazine.
- "Voice in the Wilderness": For this exotic raid you have to get 500 points by shooting with a machine gun. You get 1 point for a shot and 3 points for a hit in the head. The best way to do this is on a patrol. Killings with the rocket launcher reduce the total number of points again. You will receive a new one for your troubles with the machine gun: "Extremely good advice" causes solar damage and brings you back missed shots into the magazine.
