German glass fiber: router for high-speed Internet
At Deutsche Glasfaser you can continue to use your own router if it can handle the transmission type and speed. You can use different FritzBox routers alternatively or buy the router from Deutsche Glasfaser. We show which routers are compatible and what the German fiber optic router can do.
German fiber: These routers are compatible
The router requirements for German fiber optic are, on the one hand, the WLAN standard 802.11 b / g / n and, on the other hand, the device must be gigabit-compatible. The more data the router can process, the better. You can use these FRITZ! Boxes:
- FRITZ! Box 3270 *
- FRITZ! Box 3370
- FRITZ! Box 7240 *
- FRITZ! Box 7320 *
- FRITZ! Box 7270
- FRITZ! Box 7390
- FRITZ! Box 7330
- FRITZ! Box 7570 *
- Asus RT-AC68U AC1900
- Fastest: Netgear-R8000 (3.2 Gigabit (!), Models up to 7.2 Gigabit available)
- * must not have branding from a DSL provider
Alternatively: router from Deutsche Glasfaser
The 3.2 Gigabit Netgear-R8000 is ideal for fiber-optic Internet. If you want to surf even faster, you can also select the router in the version with up to 7.2 gigabits.
- As an alternative to the FritzBox and Netgear, Deutsche Glasfaser also offers its own router. According to the DG router, it manages up to 4 gigabits.
- The router also comes with four LAN connections and two telephone connections. If that's not enough, you can add five or eight further connections with a LAN splitter.
- The router from Deutsche Glasfaser costs a one-time fee of 89.99 euros, but is often available as a one-time sale for 39.99 euros. But you still have to stay with the provider for five years as a customer. If you don't want to commit yourself for a long period of time, we recommend the Netgear-R8000.
On the next page we will show you how to set up your new router securely.
