You sent a package with DHL and it turns out that the recipient is unknown. We tell you what happens to undeliverable items and what you can do.
Recipient unknown - you can do that
Basically, parcels that cannot be delivered are returned to the sender.
- DHL initially stores the parcels, whose recipients are considered unknown, for a short period of time. An attempt is then made to find out where the delivery problem lies.
- Since you usually get a shipment number, you will also see the status "recipient unknown" in the shipment tracking.
- Both you and the shipper should then take appropriate measures in good time so that the parcel service can start a second delivery attempt. Otherwise the delivery will be returned.
- Check whether you have correctly labeled the doorbell or letterbox. Ask the sender to check whether he has really given your address correctly on the parcel. If necessary, the sender should contact DHL and correct the address.
In the next post we have summarized which options you have to track the current send status of your package.
