If you find that your DHL package is damaged, you can and should report it. We show you how it works.
How to report your damaged DHL package
If your DHL package is damaged and you have already accepted it, you should report it in any case. To do this, you must fill out a so-called damage report.
- Download the damage report as a PDF from the DHL website.
- Fill out the document completely and describe the circumstances as precisely as possible.
- Then print out the form, repack the DHL package, if necessary, and make sure that it is complete.
- Then go to the nearest Deutsche Post or Postbank branch and hand in the package and the completed form. It is important that you do this within seven days of delivery.

Parcel damaged by DHL: how to continue
If you have initiated the damage report, you must first be patient. Processing can take around 14 days. The process involves three main steps.
- The responsible parcel center first assesses the damage.
- You or the sender will then receive the report of the assessment and the damaged package back.
- Finally, you or the sender will receive a letter to process your complaint.
