A DHL parcel does not always arrive at the recipient or it arrives late. We'll tell you what you can do in such cases.
DHL: when will my parcel arrive?
In rare cases, shipments may be delayed or even lost, particularly at the international, but also at the national level.
- If you have sent a parcel and paid for the shipment tracking online or in the branch, you can determine the current location of your parcel with DHL shipment tracking. When you hand over the package, you will receive a voucher with the number of the shipment. You have to enter them on the website. You will then find out where the package was last and whether it might have been given to a recipient's neighbor. For details, click here.
- If you have not paid for the tracking, you should remain calm and wait for the time being. In some cases, parcels stay there for a few days or have to be processed by employees because the address may not be readable or identifiable due to errors. This leads to delays in delivery.
- Especially when shipping abroad, delivery may take longer than expected because the addresses are read and written in other forms. Here, too, Swiss Post employees have to manually assign the shipment.
- If you have ordered something yourself, you can often track your package without having to pay anything for it. You can find out how this works, for example, in the "Amazon" online shop here.
Send inquiry to DHL
If the date of the delivery calculated by DHL has exceeded six days for national shipments or two weeks for international shipments, you can submit a research order. However, only the sender of the package can place this order.
- Open this DHL website and choose what type of package it is.
- If you click on the "Order national research for parcels and parcels" link below, you will be taken to the appropriate form.
- Enter all relevant data and submit the form. You should get an answer from DHL in the next few days.
If you cannot accept your parcel personally, you can also have it delivered to a Packstation by setting up the Packstation service from DHL. This practical tip shows you how to track late parcels that were sent with DPD.
