Embed diagrams on website
If you want to include diagrams on your website, you can use it to illustrate a complicated process. In our instructions, we show you how to do this step by step.
Integrate diagram with Google Drive
You can easily integrate the diagram with Google Drive. If you do not yet have a Google account, you must first create a free user account.
- First create a new spreadsheet document in Google Drive and create your diagram. You can also upload a finished spreadsheet document to Google Drive.
- Once your document is ready, click once on the diagram to display the frame. The diagram menu now appears at the top left.
- Select the Publish Chart option. A script is now displayed in a new window. You can easily copy the script and paste it wherever you want on your website.
Integrate the diagram with OneDrive
As an alternative to Google Drive, you can also use Microsoft's OneDrive service (formerly Sky Drive). Here you have a lot more design options than is the case with Google Drive.
- If you don't already have a OneDrive account, you need to create one first. With OneDrive, Microsoft provides you with free online storage for your documents.
- Next, create a folder in OneDrive. Select this and go to "Share"> "Get Link"> "Publish". The folder is now public so that all documents contained in it are visible to other users. This is a requirement in order to be able to subsequently integrate your documents on a website.
- Next, click on "Upload" in the top bar of OneDrive and select the spreadsheet document.
- Next click the document with the right mouse button and select the option "Embed"> "Customize".
- Next, you need to select all of the items you want to show on your website in the "Show This" field. You can select the entire document, but you can also select individual elements.
- Under "View" you can now determine how the document (or the excerpts) should be displayed on your website. For example, you can determine that a specific cell is selected when the page is opened.
- Under "Interaction" you can, for example, allow input from other users and under "Dimensions" you specify the width and height with which the document is to be integrated on your website.
- With the help of the preview function, you can see how the document will ultimately look on your website. If you are satisfied with the result, click on "Copy". The embed code is then copied to your clipboard. You can then paste the code wherever you want on your website.
Note that the associated data sheet is also published with the publication of the diagram and that the file is theoretically accessible to outside parties. In another article, we explain how to install clever addons in Google Drive.
