Find the right projector screen
In this practical tip, we show you what to look for when buying a projector screen and how to find the right screen.
Find the right projector screen: note the aspect ratio
- First of all, you should consider what aspect ratio your canvas should have. A ratio of 4: 3 is common for business screens.
- For a particularly good film experience, however, you should choose a 16: 9 screen, since most cinema films are produced in 16: 9 format. These are known as home theater screens.
Find the right projector screen: take the image area and room size into account
- The ratio of the projected image area to the depth of the room is important in order to be able to optimally enjoy the reproduction on the screen. The table below shows the minimum and maximum distances as well as the ideal distance.
- Make sure that you are ideally spaced from the projector screen.
Find the right projector screen: Determine the ideal size
- The correct size of the projector screen is particularly important. For example, if the canvas is too large, you have a protruding frame. You should therefore pay attention to the dimensions.
- You should not move the projector any further from the screen than recommended, otherwise the picture can no longer be brought into focus.
- Tip: A canvas with a black border increases the contrast of the image and makes viewing more pleasant.
Find the right projector screen: Pay attention to additional features
- With special additional features, you can operate and enjoy your canvas even more comfortably. With a motorized screen, for example, you can automatically raise or lower it if necessary.
- Make sure that the fabric is as good as possible so that the canvas does not curl. High-quality PVC fabrics are optimal, but they are quite expensive.
- To avoid warping, you can also buy the canvas with a solid and stable frame and mount it on the wall.
