The Sims 3: Install Mods - Here's how
So that your mods in "The Sims 3" are playable, you have to install them in a special way. We'll show you step by step how this works.
Install mods in "The Sims 3"
- Navigate to the following path: "C: \ Program Files \ Electronic Arts \ The Sims 3" or "C: \ Program Files \ Electronic Arts \ The Sims 3".
- Open the "Mods" folder here. You will need the "Packages" folder and the "Resource.cfg" file.
- If the "Mods" or "Packages" folder does not exist, create it yourself. If the "Resource.cfg" file is not available, you will find instructions in the next paragraph.
- If you download a mod, it is usually packed in a ZIP or RAR file. Unzip the archive and move the entire folder of the mod into the "Packages" folder.
- Now start "The Sims 3". Now all mods contained in the folder are also available in the game.
Sims 3: Create Resources.cfg for mods
- Right-click an empty space in the "Mods" folder and select "Text Document" under "New".
- Rename the file to "Resource.cfg". Make sure that the file extension has really been changed from ".txt" to ".cfg". You will find suitable instructions in a separate article.
- Right-click to open the file with the "Editor". You can now fill the file with text. Enter the following seven lines, save the changes and follow the instructions above again.
