In this practical tip you will learn what is better for your digital camera: battery or battery. We not only attach great importance to the service life, but also to points such as comfort or environmental friendliness.
Batteries for your digital camera
Batteries have various advantages and disadvantages:
- Batteries need a charger. You can use it to recharge again and again as long as there is a power source nearby. The chargers are available for less than 10 euros, for larger batteries, universal chargers are recommended. Price about 20 euros.
- Please note: The so-called memory effect ensures that the running time of the batteries decreases with the period of use. Therefore, batteries are particularly worthwhile for devices that you use for a short time. The batteries are therefore rather unsuitable for a longer period of time.
- Since the batteries can be used more often than batteries, batteries are more environmentally friendly.
- Note: The charging speed depends on the battery charger and the battery size.
- Tip: Old devices require a voltage of 1.5 volts - but batteries usually only have a voltage of 1.2 volts. Here you should use a battery if necessary.
Batteries for your digital camera - a good alternative or only in an emergency?
If you are traveling for a long time without a power source in the area, batteries could be the better solution for you:
- Batteries are cheaper to buy than batteries and battery chargers, but you can use batteries longer.
- Batteries have a longer service life than rechargeable batteries, which show a memory effect and discharge themselves. But batteries can cope better with heat and cold.
- In contrast to rechargeable batteries, you can use the batteries once, in terms of "environmental friendliness" a shortcoming.
- Tip: Do not buy zinc-carbon batteries, but rather alkaline batteries. They don't empty so quickly, but are just as cheap.
Accus and batteries both have different advantages and disadvantages. Depending on how long you are traveling with your digital camera, you should choose rechargeable batteries. A mixture of the two is best: use batteries until they are discharged. If you don't reach a power source by then, use batteries. Incidentally, batteries stay "fresh" longer if you store them in a cold environment.
