Discord: Javascript Error - you can do that
In rare cases, a Javascript error may occur when starting or during the installation of Discord. Fortunately, the problem can be solved quite easily, so that nothing stands in the way of further use of the chat program.
Discord - How to Fix Javascript Error
If the error "A fatal Javascript error occured" occurs when starting Discord or when installing the software, you should first restart your PC. Often the problem can be solved this way. Otherwise, do the following:
- Make sure Discord has finished completely. The program symbol should no longer be visible in the system tray. Also use the Task Manager to check that no processes with "Discord" names are running.
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R].
- Type% appdata% and press [Enter]. A new window is opening up. Search for the directory "Discord" and delete it.
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R] again.
- Now enter% localappdata% and press [Enter] again. In the new window, delete the "Discord" directory.
- Restart your computer.
- Install the latest version of Discord. You can download these at any time in our download area.
Discord and Javascript Error - more tips
- In some cases, virus scanners can block access to files required by Discord or even move them to quarantine. In this case it can help to switch off the virus scanner at least during the installation or to add Discord to the exception rules of the virus scanner.
- If you start Discord with insufficient user rights, the error can also occur. To fix this, right-click on the Discord EXE file and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
