Display break: How to react correctly
If a smartphone or tablet involuntarily says goodbye to the hard floor and suffers a display break, the excitement is of course great. We will show you which points to do and consider now.
Broken display on smartphone, tablet or notebook - that's what to do.
First of all, of course, keep calm. A broken display is not a broken leg. And all of your data, installed apps and conversation histories are pretty much recoverable. The common display break is not normally covered by the two-year manufacturer's guarantee. If the display still works despite cracks and splinters, you can apply a screen protector. This can usually extend the survival of your smartphone considerably. You may also get a suitable protective cover for your cell phone in the future. So many falls go off lightly. If it's too late, there are several options.
- With online providers for repairs with original display, the prices range between € 150.- and 200.- Or you bring your damaged smartphone to a repair service on site. Here the prices are usually significantly cheaper and you can usually pick up your cell phone again within a few hours.
- You can also replace the display yourself: in this case, you should have some manual skill, patience and time. Otherwise we do not recommend this option. Using the Galaxy S5 as an example, we will show you the instructions for the display repair.
- You can of course buy a new cell phone right away. Expensive online repairs of entry-level or mid-range devices often don't pay off. The purchase of a new cell phone is definitely worth considering and researching here. You may have been attracted to the successor model of your current one for some time or you might be flirting with another manufacturer. Since all manufacturers regularly bring new models onto the market, the "old" predecessor models are often significantly cheaper than at the time of purchase.
