The Division: weapons and mods - all information and details
In The Division there are numerous weapons and mods available. We explain how you can equip yourself for your adventures.
All information about the weapons in The Division
You need the right equipment to survive in The Division. We'll tell you what to choose.
- You can carry three weapons with you at any time, two primary weapons and a pistol with unlimited ammunition as a secondary weapon.
- You can keep other weapons in your inventory, but they are not immediately ready for use.
- Assault rifles, sniper rifles, light machine guns, shotguns and submachine guns are available as primary weapons. More about the different types follows.
- No matter which weapon you choose, you will keep changing throughout the game. In the course of your career, you will not only find different weapon types and models, but also in different grades.
- There are five levels from "Used" to "High-End", which have a strong influence on the values of the respective weapon. High-end becomes available late in the game because these excellent weapons often require a higher level.
- Regular weapons are fairly average, but everyone above them has talents such as improved marksmanship, stability, and regeneration skills. The list of these bonuses is quite long and offers something for every style of play.
- In addition, you may find the same weapon with different types of fire. An AK 47 may be fully automatic on the first find, but can also be discovered as a single-shot weapon. You can only switch between these modes by changing the weapon.
- Which firing modes are available depends on the weapon type and model.
- It is worthwhile to carry two different weapon types as primary weapons, since ammunition is divided according to weapon types. If you have two assault rifles with you, you will burn through your stock all the faster, but you will not be able to carry more ammunition.
- With two different weapons, on the other hand, you access two separate ammunition stores and hold out much longer in firefights. You can also react more flexibly to different situations.
The Division: weapon classes
- Assault rifles like the AK 47 are all-rounders. Good range, accuracy, fire speed and damage make them a safe choice. They don't shine in any area.
- Sniper rifles are a good choice if you like to keep your distance from your targets. These weapons fire very accurately, but comparatively slowly. The damage is very high on average per shot and is further increased by an additional headshot bonus.
- Light machine guns like the L86 LSW have extremely large magazines, which you can also empty very quickly. These weapons scatter very heavily and are therefore only suitable for a short distance or to deliberately keep a position constantly under fire.
- Shotguns like the M870 are particularly suitable for short-range fights. These weapons use highly scattering shotguns that can land deadly hits at close range.
- Submachine guns are small and handy like pistols, but are equipped with a larger magazine. They fire fully automatically and at a very high speed, but cause little damage per hit due to the small caliber. However, these weapons are excellent in close combat and for agile playing styles.
- Guns do little damage, usually fire at most semi-automatically and have little ammunition in the magazine. But they are relatively accurate and you can reload as often as you need, because there is always enough replenishment.
Division: weapon mods
Of course, you can also modify your weapons extensively in The Division in order to further strengthen their talents or compensate for their weaknesses.
- How many modifications you can make depends on a number of factors. The type of weapon, but also the quality of the weapon and the weapon level play a role.
- Mods are divided into five categories: magazine, muzzle, optics, underflow and skins.
- Magazines change the reloading behavior of your weapon: more ammunition and shorter reload times can be selected here, for example.
- Classic muzzle modifications are silencers and muzzle flash dampers that make it harder for your opponents to discover you.
- Of course, optical mods like riflescopes, improved visors and other optics are particularly important. These usually increase your marksmanship.
- Underflow modifications include handles and laser pointers that stabilize the weapon or increase its accuracy.
- Skins like spotted camouflage have no essential playful effect, but are often fancier than the standard design of the weapons. We'll explain how to find skins for your weapons in The Division in a separate article.
- Modifications also differ according to rarity and level. The bonuses are getting better and better, but so do the requirements. However, the level of the modification does not have to match the weapon level as long as your character has the correct level.
- There are also optics, muzzle and underflow mods in different sizes. So make sure that the weapon of your choice also has the right slot for the selected mod - a sniper scope only works badly on a pistol.
