Document margin cut off when printing - what to do?
If the edge of a document is cut off during printing, this is usually due to the incorrect setup of the page or the printer. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Cut off document margin when printing
We solve the problem for Word 2013 in the following instructions. The procedure is similar in other programs.
- Click on "File" in the top left corner of Word and switch to the "Word" category.
- Under "Settings" you will find an option to set the margins. Something may have been changed here.
- If that doesn't solve the problem, click the "Page Setup" option below. Then a small window opens.
- Go to the "Paper" tab above and select the custom paper in the "Paper size" category.
- Set the width 21 cm and the height 29.7 cm. If you also see the "Non-printable area" option, select a value of zero here.
- Click the "OK" button to accept the new format. The edges are no longer cut off.
Workaround: Document margin cut off when printing
If this does not solve the problem for you, you still have a small workaround. Many users report that the formatting in PDF format enables them to print without any problems.
- Click "File" and "Save As" above to save a text document as a PDF in most programs.
- You can upload your Word document to the WordToPDF website and download it as a PDF after a short conversion.
- You can then print the created PDF. If you have no software to open PDF files installed, the file can be opened and printed out in the browser.
