DotA 2 vs. League of Legends: these are the differences
There are many different opinions on the topic "DotA 2 vs. League of Legends". Some say League of Legends is a clone of DotA 2, others say the opposite. The fact is that the games are similar in many ways, but also differ in some points. We have summarized the biggest differences for you in this article.
Free content
The biggest difference between League of Legends and DotA 2 is the type of paid content.
- In DotA 2 you can play all available heroes for free. You only pay for optional items that change the look of your hero, for example. All prices are given in euros. The content is created by the community, part of the sales proceeds go to the creator of the article.
- League of Legends, on the other hand, provides you with ten champions per week that you can play for free. However, these vary from week to week. If you want to play a champion permanently, you have to buy it. This can either be done with influence points, which you can earn through playing, or with real money riot points. There are also skins for every champion that change the look. You can only buy skins with riot points.
Runes, championships and skills
- In League of Legends, upgrade your profile with runes and championships. Every rune and every championship brings you a permanent bonus - for example "+ 0.25 attack speed". You have to buy runes with influence points, each time you level up you get a championship point that you can distribute as you wish.
- In addition, you can set two special skills before starting the game - for example, "Teleport" and "Heal". You can also teleport back to the base at any time with "Callback". DotA 2 offers neither runes and championships, nor the special skills. Merely teleport the items "Teleport Scroll" and "Boots of Travel" back to the base or to an allied building.
Other differences
- The skills of the "League of Legends" champions are usually weaker than those of the DotA heroes, but have a shorter cooldown.
- In DotA 2 there is in addition to the shop at the base (blue in the picture) the side shop (yellow) and the secret shop (red). The side shop is located at the corners of the top and bottom lanes, the secret shot is in the jungle. You can also have items delivered by courier.
- Inhibitors (League of Legends) are rebuilt after some time, barracks (DotA 2) remain permanently destroyed.
- You can attack allied units and buildings in DotA 2 in order to "deny" them, ie to kill or destroy them yourself, so that the enemy has no experience.
