Move the download folder of Internet Explorer to another drive
By default, IE stores downloads on the system hard drive. You can also move the download folder to another drive.
Change download location of IE
- To move the location to another, larger drive, type "% userprofile%" in the address bar of Windows Explorer and press Enter.
- Right-click on the "Downloads" folder and select the shortcut command "Properties".
- Now switch to the "Path" tab. Enter the new destination in the input field, for example »G: \ Downloads«. Confirm the change with »Apply« and »OK«. Alternatively, you can also click on "Move" beforehand and navigate to the desired new destination folder, which must already be available for this.
- Confirm the process with »Select folder«. You can also transfer all previously saved files to the new location. To do this, click on "Apply" and confirm the following request with "Yes".
