Download Android 4.0 - you have to consider that
There are a few things to consider when downloading Android 4 - especially if you are upgrading from an old Android version.
The most important innovations in Android 4
Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) brings many useful improvements - especially if you are still on the go with Android 2.3:
- Apps can easily be organized in folders. To do this, simply drag two app icons on top of each other.
- All widgets can be scaled as desired.
- The data consumption can be controlled much better and more clearly (for each individual app).
- The browser has been revised with new functions. For example, there is an offline mode and you can sync it with the desktop version of Chrome.
- There is a dictation function or voice control. It's not as intelligent as Apple's Siri. However, it makes it easier for you to voice messages.
- Android 4 has a new lock screen with facial recognition.
- The camera functions have been improved.
- Data can be transferred via an NFC chip (if installed in the smartphone).
- The email client would be revised.
- The address book fetches information from social networks (if stored) and links it to the appropriate contacts.
Problems with Android 4 on many smartphones
Unfortunately, some smartphones have problems with Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The reason: ICS has significantly higher demands on the hardware. This results in the following:
- higher processor utilization
- greater memory consumption
- higher demands on the graphics chip
- increased energy consumption (battery)
There is often no official update to Android 4
Another problem: If the smartphone is too old, manufacturers usually no longer offer Android updates. Then you can only lend a hand and "flash" your device (reload). But that requires in-depth knowledge.
- You can follow these instructions.
- However, please note that a different file is required for flashing for each smartphone.
- CAUTION: Flashing can lead to loss of guarantee, loss of files and unusability of the mobile phone!
Backup before downloading and upgrading to Android 4
We recommend backing up your data before installing ICS. If you do something wrong, you are on the safe side. A very good backup tool is the "MyPhoneExplorer", which is available as a Windows version and as an Android app.
