Share Dropbox folders
A big advantage of the Dropbox cloud service is the shared use of folders. This makes it easy for different people to collect their data in a common folder and access it over the Internet. You can find out exactly how to set up such a Dropbox folder in this practical tip.
Create a shared Dropbox folder
First, you need to create the folder on your own Dropbox account. This is easily done via the local Dropbox directory on your hard drive.
- Go to the "Dropbox" folder on your computer. This was automatically created on your computer during installation. There you can see all the data that has been stored in your cloud so far.
- In the usual way, create a new folder in this directory. For example, right-click on an empty field in the Dropbox folder and select "Folder" under "New".
- Right click on this folder again and select "Share this folder". You will now be redirected to the Dropbox website.
- In the text field "Invite users to this folder" you now enter the e-mail addresses of the people with whom the folder is to be shared. You can also add a message to the recipients.
- Click "Done" and the invitations will be sent as an email. As soon as the recipient confirms their membership, they can also access the data in the folder.
