The more obstacles you put into your account when you log in, the more secure. With two-factor authentication in Dropbox, you have another security aspect in addition to the usual log-in data.
Set up two-factor authentication for the Dropbox
Similar to Twitter, Dropbox also offers the option of sending the security code via SMS or app.
- First go to the Dropbox website and log in.
- Click on "Settings" in the drop-down menu to the right of your name and go to the "Security" menu item in the new window.
- Click on "Enable" in "Two-step verification" and follow the steps. You can choose between the app and mobile phone number.
- First you can enter your primary cell phone number. Confirm this with the code sent by SMS.
- If you wish, you can enter a second number so that you can still access your account in an emergency.
- Finally, you will receive a random recovery code that allows you to authenticate without two factors.
The activation of the additional security feature is also possible in Yahoo or Facebook. In further articles we will show you how to activate two-factor authentication there.
