Print job cannot be removed - what to do?
If a print job can no longer be removed and the printer is blocked, this problem can often not be resolved even after a restart. In this article, we show you how to do this instead.
Cancel print jobs correctly
To get rid of the blocker, you must first stop the print job service:
- To do this, enter "cmd" in the search line of the start menu and right-click on the hit.
- Select "Run as administrator" in the context menu and confirm the following message with "Yes".
- Now enter the command "net stop spooler" in the command line and press Enter.
- If Windows has stopped the service, open Windows Explorer and navigate there to the directory "C: \ Windows \ System32 \ spool \ printers".
- Here Windows stores all pending print jobs, including the blocking ones. Delete all existing files with the extensions ".shd" and ".spl".
Then return to the command prompt and restart the print service with the command "net start spooler". You should now be able to print again without any problems. You can find tips and tricks for problems with the laser printer here.
