Printer status "stopped" - you can do that
To be able to print under Windows, you have to send the jobs to the printer. If it shows the status "On hold", no orders are currently possible. Find out here what you can do to troubleshoot this practical tip.
Printer stopped - what to do?
Use the tips below to make the printer print properly again:
- First switch to "Control Panel" and then to "Printer". Double-click the current printer to open the queue. "Suspended" should appear at the bottom right.
- Then select "Printer" at the top and remove the checkmark from "Stop printer". You should then be able to print as usual.
- If you cannot remove the check there, make sure that you are logged in as administrator.
- Often times, the printer is also stopped when there is a problem with the driver. To do this, switch to Device Manager and right-click on your printer. Select "Update Driver". In our download area you will also find all printer drivers from A to Z.
- You should also make sure that you have connected the printer correctly and that all cables are properly seated. The printer must be switched on so that it can communicate with the PC.
- In some cases, a paper jam can also cause the printer to stop. So make sure that this is not the case.
- You may find it helpful to unplug the printer for about 10 seconds and then try again.
