Printer pulls multiple sheets at once - what to do?
After a few years, your printer will often pull multiple sheets into the feeder at the same time. Read how to fix this in this article.
Fix printer problems with paper feeding
First check whether:
- The paper was dusty, torn, wrinkled, wet, or folded.
- Load at least 10 sheets into the printer, but do not fill the paper tray as far as it will go.
- Do not push the paper too far into the machine: this may push the paper into the printer rollers, which may cause the problem.
- If this does not help, continue as described in the following section:
Multiple paper feeds: Clean paper rollers
- Turn off the printer and remove the network cable. Then you have to open the printer.
- Look for paper that may have jammed in the device and wipe the rubber rollers with a fine, lint-free microfiber cloth.
- Then locate the paper pick roller further inside; it is a little more difficult to achieve - but most importantly, cleaning it. The use of a cotton swab is often recommended here. You can slightly moisten it with distilled water.
- This procedure is usually successful at least. However, if this is only for a short time, you should simply replace the separation pad. The rubber of the pad has probably hardened and become brittle over time. Depending on the printer model, this costs around 10 euros.
