Printer does not feed paper - what to do?
If your printer suddenly stops feeding paper, there can be several reasons. Find out what you can do about it in this guide.
Printer: Paper feed is not working
A defect in the device does not always have to be responsible for the fact that the paper is no longer fed by the printer. Below we give you tips for troubleshooting.
- Make sure that you do not put too much or not too little paper in the feeder.
- The paper used should be of good quality and of the correct dimensions, otherwise it can jam. If possible, use the paper recommended by the manufacturer.
- You should clean the feeder and associated components regularly and remove any dust so that they can work properly.
- Make sure that you have installed the latest printer driver and made the correct settings for the paper.
- In many cases, a simple restart of the device is enough for the paper to be fed again properly.
Other solutions: Printer no longer feeds paper
If the tips mentioned above did not help, check the suggested solutions below.
- There may be paper residue from previous sheets between the rollers of the printer. Remove this so that the feeder works properly again. If you are not confident in this process, you should consult a specialist.
- You should only store the paper at room temperature. If the humidity is too low, the friction between the surfaces of the paper increases, which can lead to problems when feeding paper.
- If you rarely use the printer, make sure that the paper does not stick. Simply loosen it up briefly to avoid this.
- If these tips did not help you either, your device may be defective. It is advisable to contact a specialist here.
