DSL without splitter - that's the reason
Most Internet providers now offer DSL without a splitter. We'll show you what's behind this term.
DSL without splitter - what is it?
The Internet reaches your home via your DSL line. The largest part of the line is used for the transmission of the Internet connection, a small part is reserved for a telephone connection (ISDN).
- If you use "DSL without splitter", the small part for the ISDN line is also used for DSL transmission. This means you can also make calls over the Internet (VoIP).
- Such DSL connections are called IP-based, among other things, since both Internet access for surfing and telephony are handled via the Internet. Some providers also call this a "complete connection".
- The advantage of "DSL without a splitter" is not only the simpler cabling, but also the larger bandwidth: Since the ISDN connection is not required, you will get an additional upload speed of up to 2.4 Mbit / s in the best case.
