Connect DSL splitter - how it works
You must connect the router and telephone to the DSL splitter before commissioning, otherwise nothing will work. In this guide, we explain step by step how to do this correctly and how to start calling and surfing in a few seconds.
Connect the DSL splitter correctly
- First connect the phone socket to the splitter. To do this, take the splitter cable and insert the thick plug into the middle connection of the telephone socket (F socket).
- The other, smaller end belongs in the splitter at the bottom left. This entrance is often marked with "Amt".
- Now take the DSL cable at hand. This is a common Ethernet cable. Put it in the splitter at the bottom right, the entrance is usually marked with "DSL".
- The other end now comes into the "DSL" input on the router.
- Finally connect the router to the power and the connection is established. Next you need to configure the router.
Connect the telephone connection with a splitter
- If you would also like to use an analogue or ISDN telephone, connect it to the middle connection of the splitter. This is also called the F socket.
- However, if you receive a Y cable with your router, plug one end into the DSL output on the splitter as in step 3 of the instructions above. The second end is fitted with an adapter and connected to the middle F socket on the splitter.
