Duolingo Change Language: Mobile Devices
If you want to learn a new language, Duolingo is the perfect start. You can learn any new language for free here, be it on Android, iOS or directly in the browser. However, if the source language is set to German, only English, French and Spanish courses are currently available.
You can learn many more languages by changing the menu language to English. Proceed as follows on mobile devices:
- Open Duolingo on the device you want and stay on the Home tab.
- Tap the flag in the top left corner.
- Now select the "+" option on the right to add a new course.
- If you previously selected German from the source language, only English, Spanish and French will be displayed. Select "More" to have more options.
- In this overview you have an overview of all available courses and can now select a language that is taught in English.
- Confirm with "OK" and you will be redirected to the new language.
Change source language on the computer
If you use Duolingo on the computer in the web browser, changing the language is even easier.
- Place the mouse on the flag next to your profile picture.
- Select "Add new course" from the drop-down list.
- On this page you can now learn another language or choose a different source language at the top right next to "I speak".
