Shower head drips - you can do that
If the shower head drips permanently, it can quickly become expensive. In this article, we will explain how to prevent the shower head from dripping and how to prevent the problem.
Shower head drips - so you seal it
After showering, water may drip from your shower head. However, this is only water that has accumulated there during the shower and has not leaked. You can remove the water by shaking the shower head vigorously.
- If water drips from the shower head even though you have not just showered, this can become a high cost factor. You can prevent this dripping in a few simple steps. Try it yourself first, rather than having the work done by a plumber.
- First, check if the thread of the shower head has a leak. Switch it on and observe whether water runs out directly on the thread. If this is the case, you can repair the thread yourself. Unscrew the shower head. You also need an elongated rubber strip, for example you can cut a disposable glove. Now wrap the strip around the thread and screw the shower head back on. The rubber strip seals the leak on the thread.
- If this trick does not work, you can discuss the problem with a plumber or replace the shower head directly. However, if the plumber determines that the shower head is irreparable, you only have to buy a new one.
- To prevent this problem from occurring in the first place, there are ways to prevent dripping beforehand. For example, you can regularly check and replace the shower head seals if they are leaking.
- You can also check the shower head for dirt and limescale. If the holes from which the water comes are blocked by dirt, more water remains in the shower head and causes it to calcify. This in turn can lead to leaks.
