DVB-T: Align antenna - how it works
In addition to cable and satellite, DVB-T is the most used reception for your TV signal at home. We describe how to align the antenna correctly to get the best reception quality.
Where is the right place for my antenna?
There is no one correct position in your TV room. Test in different positions in the room to find the best place. When scanning for channels, it can be useful to keep the antenna out of the open window. This will give you better results when searching. Once the channels have been found, you can receive them even when the window is closed. If you do not receive all the stations after several station searches, we advise you to use an active indoor antenna. This has its own power supply via the connected DVB-T receiver and delivers better reception results.
For a good TV reception via DVB-T antenna there are some tips.
- Image and sound interference on the TV set can be generated by cell phones, computers and electrical devices that are nearby.
- The reception of your DVB-T indoor antenna is usually best near the window or on a cupboard.
- If all available programs are received well, your antenna is correctly aligned.
- Apartments on a higher floor or without any major obstacles between the transmitter and you only need a passive indoor antenna. For apartments on the ground floor, in reinforced concrete buildings or with metallic shields in the area, you need an active indoor antenna.
- Don't be surprised if the reception deteriorates within a few months. Then just adjust your antenna slightly.
- The signal strength display on your DVB-T receiver is of course also a good tool for successfully aligning your antenna.
