Connect the DVB-T antenna correctly - how it works
If you want to receive your TV signal via DVB-T or DVB-T2, you first have to connect a suitable antenna. We show you how to do this in this article.
Step 1: mount the DVB-T antenna
- A DVB-T antenna usually consists of the actual antenna and a base. The connection cable for the television is also mounted on the base.
- Unpack the supplied DVB-T antenna, you must first connect the antenna to the stand. The antenna is usually simply screwed onto the base.
Step 2: Connect the DVB-T antenna correctly to the TV
- Take the cable of the DVB-T antenna and connect the antenna to the television or the DVB-T receiver. Simply search for the right connection here. For safety reasons, you should first disconnect the TV from the power.
- The antenna connector is usually labeled "Antenna", "Air" or "Cable". You cannot catch a wrong entrance by carefully plugging it in.
Step 3: Position the DVB-T antenna correctly
- Place the DVB-T antenna in the desired place and switch on the television. Start a channel search here.
- There you should also see how good the reception is at the current position (see picture). Take a few meters away from the antenna so as not to affect reception.
- You can now optimize reception by slightly repositioning it. Electrical and metallic objects in the immediate vicinity can impair reception.
The old DVB-T will be partially switched off from 2017. Your DVB-T receiver must be explicitly designed to receive DVB-T2. DVB-T antennas work with both DVB-T and DVB-T2. In the next practical tip, we will show you what else you need to know about DVB-T2.
