Swap DVD drive on laptop - in 10 steps
To replace your DVD drive on your laptop, you only need your laptop, the new DVD drive and an anti-magnetic screwdriver. Then you can start:
- Shut down your laptop and close it.
- Remove the charging cable and take out the battery.
- Turn your laptop over and place it on a cloth.
- Now screw on the cover of the laptop with the anti-magnetic screwdriver.
- Next, you need to loosen all the screws that hold the DVD drive in place.
- Then carefully pull out the DVD drive. If it doesn't pull out, check if you may have forgotten a screw and then try again.
- If the old DVD drive is removed, you can easily and carefully slide the new one into the space provided.
- Fix the new DVD drive and screw it down with the anti-magnetic screwdriver.
- When everything is fixed, turn your laptop over again and switch it on.
- If a driver CD was included with the new DVD drive, install it if your laptop does not already find the driver automatically.
