DVD player no longer plays sound - what to do?
If your DVD player no longer plays any sound, this is usually due to faulty connections or settings. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
So you get the sound from your DVDs again
You can try these steps if you no longer hear any sound from your DVD player:
- First pull out the transmission cable between the TV and DVD player and plug it in again.
- You can try changing the sound signal in the settings, it may be that audio versions are not compatible.
- If it is a more modern DVD player, you can reset the device in the settings. This is how software problems are eliminated.
- Also check if the sound works on another TV. If so, the problem is not the DVD player, but the television. If not, then the problem is with the cable or the DVD player.
- Use either an HDMI or Scart cable to connect to the TV. Change the connection on the television and in a second attempt the whole cable. Especially the contacts of HDMI cables wear out quickly if you change them often.
DVD player defective - you can do that
- Warranty: If you still have a warranty on your DVD player, you can request a free repair from the manufacturer or have the device replaced.
- Repair: If the guarantee has expired, you can take the DVD player to a repair service.
- New purchase: In many cases, the repair of older devices is not worthwhile. The repair costs are usually half the price of a new and current DVD player.
