Email: Mailbox full - you can do that
Nothing is more confusing than a full email inbox. In this article we give you a few tips on what you can do about it.
Use filters to sort
The easiest way to delete emails relatively quickly is to set up some filters.
- With these filters you can put important mails in a separate folder and mark mails with certain search terms directly as spam.
- Even if all programs, such as B. Thunderbird, are somewhat different to use, you should normally find this option in the settings of your application.
- For example, you can automatically move all emails that contain the word "invoice" to a separate folder.
- However, we recommend that you still check the incoming messages roughly. Sometimes the best filter is no protection against unwanted mail.
Unsubscribe from newsletters
Your email inbox is often clogged with a lot of spam and advertising. Here it helps if you unsubscribe from less interesting newsletters.
- As a rule, you will find a link at the bottom of every such email that you can use to unsubscribe.
- Keep only the newsletters that you really need.
Delete emails
Deleting emails at regular intervals is the most effective way to empty a mailbox.
- You can ideally combine the above options with this step.
- The filtered emails are quickly checked and you can put the unimportant ones in the trash.
- If you find invoices in your mailbox, print them out and then delete the email.
- You can save important messages as a PDF before deleting them and save them on your PC or in the cloud.
- Delete everything you don't need. It is particularly easy if you sort the emails by sender.
- In this way, you can, for example, delete all Facebook notifications with one click.
A great program for managing multiple email accounts is Thunderbird. Our test for this application can be found in the next article.
