eBook or book: comparison of book types
The eBook is no longer exotic. Maybe a bookworm is facing the question: "Book or eBook?". In this practical tip, we have listed the advantages and disadvantages of each type of book. However, there is good news in advance: you are not currently forced to choose one or the other. You can still read conventional books and use an eBook at the same time.
A conventional book is ahead of an eBook
Many people just like the feeling of holding a book and hearing the leaves rustle. In addition, a well-stocked bookshelf naturally radiates something completely different than a lonely little eBook reader, even if it contains the same number - or even significantly more - of books.
- Conventional books that the eBook cannot replace are children's books in cheerful colors and with imaginative drawings. Especially since it is a very different experience for the little ones to poke around with their hands on the paper and maybe also to refine one or the other drawing in the book.
- The same applies to richly illustrated books, especially if it is a picture book in XXL format. In this case, the eBook simply has to fit, because it is absolutely not designed for that.
So the eBook can trump
The eBook is very light and therefore much better to take away. You can easily put a slim eBook reader in your jacket pocket and easily bridge the waiting times everywhere. And above all, you are always well prepared for unexpected idle times.
- In addition, you can easily take as many eBooks with you as you want, since eBook readers only weigh between 200 and 300 grams. This means, for example, that you always have your entire seminar literature at hand and can therefore work anywhere without any problems. The same goes for the vacation, you take as many eBooks with you as you want and you won't have any space for weight problems. The eBook is also ideal as a travel guide.
- If you want to quickly buy a new work on a rainy Sunday, this is also done quickly and easily. In addition, eBooks are often cheaper than conventional books, especially if you have an eBook subscription.
- In addition, you have also been able to borrow eBooks from libraries for some time now - you don't even have to stick to the opening hours. In addition, there is another decisive factor that has kept many from borrowing books so far: The digital books are hygienically beyond any doubt, so that they are also happy to take you to bed.
- Another great advantage of the eBook over traditional books is that you can set the font size to a size that is comfortable for you.
- Notes can also be made quickly in conventional books, but they can no longer be removed as easily as from eBooks. Certain pages and quotations can also be easily recorded on an eBook.
- In addition, many eBook readers include integrated dictionaries, so that you can easily translate a vocabulary for books in foreign languages at any time.
- Of course, the bookmark is also integrated, so that you always open the eBook exactly on the page that you last read. Gone are the annoyances with dropped bookmarks and the desperate search for the last page read.
- The biggest disadvantage of eBooks is actually only their dependency on the power supply. Even if the batteries of new eBook readers seem to last almost endlessly, it will definitely be over at some point, and if you cannot recharge, the reading fun is over.
