If you pay large amounts of money with your EC card, you can quickly reach the limit. We will show you what you need to know about the available amount and how to find out the exact amount.
EC card: where is the limit?
- The level of availability of an EC card depends on both the bank and the respective account model. In addition to a daily limit, many EC cards also have a specific weekly limit.
- The daily limit is around 1000 euros on average, but can also be only 500 euros or over 2000 euros. The limit for EC payments in the store often also varies from the limit for withdrawals at the machine.
- The reason for the limit is your own security. If the debit card is stolen, the thief cannot immediately ransack your entire account. If you only notice the theft after several days, the weekly limit also proves to be helpful.
