Square brackets in Word - how it works
You can easily insert square brackets in Word. We'll show you where to find the square bracket on the keyboard and how you can insert special characters in Word.
Find square brackets on the keyboard
No matter whether you need the brackets in a Word document or want to insert them elsewhere - the way is always the same:
- For an opening square bracket, press the key combination [Alt Gr] + [8].
- The closing square bracket is right next to it - so with [Alt Gr] + [9].
Find other brackets and special characters in Word
- Open Microsoft Word and select the "Insert" tab at the top.
- On the far right of the menu line you will see the "Symbols" field. Click on it and select "More symbols ...".
- Here you will find a large selection of special characters - for example, curly braces.
