ECO: Create your own server - how it works
ECO is only really fun when you play it with friends. Here you will learn how you can create your own server in just a few steps.
ECO: Create your own server - how it works
- Open the library in Steam and select the "Tools" tab (see picture on the right). A list of all extensions and servers provided by Steam appears.
- Search for the "ECO Server" file and download it. The installation process is started by Steam itself.
- After the successful installation you can open the ECO server. Now a scirpt is executed, which starts the server and immediately generates a complete world. Then the console opens.
- You can make all possible settings and arrangements in the console. But before you start tinkering with the day-after cycle, you should establish a network connection.
- Click on the "Network" tab and then on the "Config" sub-item. All essential settings for a multiplayer server are listed here. Enter the address of your server in the "IP address" field. With Hamachi, you can easily connect to the network for free.
- In the "Description" field, you can define any name that will later appear as a name for your server in the game. With "PublicServer" you set whether you want to create a public server, ie one that is accessible to all ECO players. Type "True" for Yes and "False" for No.
- Save the file at the top right under "File" -> "Save". Close the console and restart it. If all values are entered correctly, nothing stands in the way of fun.
A meteor is about to hit and destroy your entire ECO world. Learn how to destroy this meteor in the next article.
