Set up Ecosia as a standard search engine - how it works

Setting up Ecosia as a standard search engine is worthwhile: it supports environmental protection with every search query. Millions of trees have been planted since it was founded in 2009.
Set up Ecosia as the default search engine
Ecosia describes itself as a social enterprise. Afforestation projects are supported by the advertising revenue of the search engine. In addition, your data will not be sold to advertising. With just a few clicks, you can set up Ecosia as a standard search engine:
- Visit the homepage of the search engine ecosia.org. You will find a small box on the right. With one click you get information on how to set Ecosia in your browser as the default search engine.
- If you use Google Chrome, you can simply download an extension of the Chrome Web Store there. Alternatively, call up the settings in the Chrome menu. You can then press "Manage search engines" via the "Search engine" menu item. You can then select Ecosia from a list with one click.
- With Microsoft Edge you can also access the settings via the menu. In the advanced settings you will find the button "Change search provider" at the bottom. Ecosia is recognized automatically. Select Ecosia and click on "As default" .
- If you use Mozilla Firefox, open the settings in the menu. You will find the Search tab on the left. You can now see which standard search engine is currently set. You can then select Ecosia from the dropdown list .
- With Internet Explorer, you must first click on the box on the ecosia.org page and confirm that the search engine should be added. Then use the "Settings" icon to select the " Manage add-ons" item. A pop-up window opens in which you can click the "Search provider" tab on the left. Ecosia now appears in the list and you simply click on "As standard".
