Use Edge on Mac OS - so it works anyway
With Microsoft Virtual Machine itself provides a tool with which you can also use the Edge browser on your Mac. However, you can only use the browser in the virtual machine:
- Before you can use Virtual Machine, you must first download the free tool VirtualBox for macOS from our download portal and install it on your Mac.
- Once this is done, go to the Microsoft website to download the virtual machine in your browser. Select "MSEdge on Win10" in the first dropdown menu and "VirtualBox" in the second.
- Click on "Download .zip" to download the file to your computer and unzip it.
- In the next step, open the virtual disc file in VirtualBox and select "Import" in the device settings setup.
- After the import, select "IE11 - Win10" and confirm by clicking "Start". Now the virtual machine starts and shows you the Windows 10 user interface. Here you can now surf with the Edge Browser.
- You must restart your Mac to exit the virtual machine.
- Alternatively, you can of course also install Windows 10 on the Mac and thus the Edge Browser at the same time. We describe how to do this in a detailed step-by-step guide in another practical tip.
