Own pictures "can no longer be opened - what to do?
For example, if you no longer have access to the "My Pictures" folder under Windows, you must obtain the appropriate access rights. To display your pictures, files, photos and folders again, proceed as follows.
View and change the permissions
To be able to change the permissions, you must be logged on as an administrator. If you are, you can continue with the next steps:
- Right-click the "My Pictures" folder and click "Properties" in the context menu.
- Click Security on the tab.
- Under "Group or user names" click on your name to see what permissions you have.
- Now click on "Edit" and a window called "Permissions for 'My Pictures'" will open. Click on your name there and check the box "Allow". You need read permissions to view files. However, full access is recommended for the "own files".
- Close all windows with a click on "OK". You should now be able to see and edit your photos, pictures and files again.
