Create your own Firefox themes - how it works
If you want to beautify your Firefox browser, you can create your own themes. They consist of two image files - one for the title bar and one for the footer of the browser.
Create your own theme for Firefox
You can easily submit your own Firefox theme online to Mozilla:
- To do this, create an image file for the title bar. This is the bar in which the tabs can be seen. The image file should be 3000 x 200 pixels so that it fits perfectly in Firefox.
- Also create an image file for the baseboard. Here the required dimensions are 3000 x 100 pixels. Since the Firefox version 29 there is no longer a baseboard, but you still need the graphics for the themes at the moment. Here you can simply use a white image file of the appropriate size
- Open your browser and visit the Mozilla theme page.
- Select a name, category and keywords for your design here. This will make it easier for other Firefox users to find your theme.
- Below you decide how other users can continue to use your design.
- After you have uploaded your pictures and agreed to the terms of use, you can submit your design using the "Submit theme" button.
Design your own Firefox with the Personas AddOn
It is even easier with the free addon "Personas". This is available in our download area and has the additional advantage that you do not have to upload your theme.
- Download Personas and then restart Mozilla Firefox.
- A new icon appears in your title bar. Click on it and select the entry "Settings". In the dialog, check "Enable Custom Personas" and then click "OK".
- Select the icon again and then decide on the entry "Adjust Persona" and "Edit".
- Here you can choose the appropriate graphics for the title and footer as described above and use the design. The data remain on your computer and are not uploaded. Here in the 29th version of Firefox you can safely leave out the graphics for the footer.
To make your Firefox even more beautiful, you can create your own bookmark icons.
