A shopping cart has a sloping floor: that's behind it
Shopping carts in the supermarket usually have a sloping floor, which brings down many products while walking through the store. We'll tell you why the floor is sloping in the first place.
Supermarket: Why does the shopping cart have a sloping floor?
The sloping arch cannot be explained by its practical use. There is much more to this construction than a psychological trick.
- Push the shopping cart in front of you in the supermarket, your gaze wanders to the left and right, but of course also to the front. The front part of the shopping cart is still in your field of vision, if only subconsciously.
- Bottles, but also almost all other objects, automatically slide down through the sloping floor. Place a product in the front of the shopping cart, it slides backwards due to the movement and thus disappears from your active field of vision.
- This suggests to your brain that you haven't bought that much yet. Ultimately, this psychological trick will entice you to buy more goods than planned.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to open a shopping cart without a chip.
