Some settings are managed by your organization: How to fix the problem
If the message "Some settings are managed by your organization" appears on your computer, there are different approaches to solve the problem.
Some settings are managed by your organization: what does this mean?
If you see a message in your device’s settings that says “Some settings are managed by your organization, ” there can be several reasons.
- This message is most common when you are part of a company where you are not the system administrator. If you read this on a company computer, for example, contact the IT department or the responsible administrator to change the settings.
- The message appears when the administrator has deliberately blocked access to certain settings.
- You may also encounter this message on your private computer. In this case, a program on the computer has probably changed system settings and "protected" these settings from unauthorized changes.
Access to the locked settings on the private PC
If your computer is not part of an organization, the problem may be due to an installed program. TuneUp, WinAeroTweaker, W10Privacy, O&O ShutUp10 and other tuning programs may have locked the settings.
- Check whether you have installed any of the programs mentioned or other tuning programs. To do this, open the Control Panel and navigate to "Programs and Features".
- If such a program is installed, start it and try to deactivate it. If it cannot be deactivated or if you no longer need the tool, you should uninstall it.
- After you have deactivated or uninstalled the program, restart your computer.
- Check if the locked settings are now available.
Undo group policies
If the above way didn't fix the problem, check if the group policies have changed.
- Start the command prompt as an administrator.
- Enter the following text (without quotes): gpresult /HC:\Gruppen.html
- Confirm with [Enter].
- In the root folder C: \ you will now find an HTML file with the title "Gruppen.html". Click on the file and your browser will open.
- Under "Settings"> "Policies"> "Administrative Templates" you may find information about who locks the settings.
- If you want to reset app permissions to position, you can do it in a few steps.
- Start the registry editor and navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ lfsvc.
- Change the value for the "Start" key to "3" if it is not available.
- Then navigate to the neighboring key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ lfsvc \ TriggerInfo and delete the folder "3" here.
- Finally, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ LocationAndSensors and delete the key named "DisableLocation".
- After a restart, settings regarding your position should no longer be blocked.
