Make invitation cards for a children's birthday yourself - how it works
You don't always have to buy invitation cards for a children's birthday party. Even designed, they look much more personal. You can also let your child's wishes flow into it. This practical tip shows you how to create invitation cards for a children's birthday party.
How to design an invitation card for a child's birthday
The easiest way is to create an invitation card for the children's birthday party using Microsoft Word. We'll show you how it works with Word 2007. However, these functions are similar for other programs.
- Open Microsoft Word and click on the Microsoft menu button in the top left. Select "New"
- Enter "Invitation" or "Children's Birthday" in the search field. Alternatively, look for the "Children" or "Event" area on the left. Here you will also find suitable matches.
- It is best to look for suitable invitation cards together with your child. If you do not find enough or nothing suitable, download our birthday templates for Word.

Change children's birthday card according to your wishes
Once you have found a suitable card, you can continue to edit it.
- By clicking on the elements, they can be moved and colored as desired. For example, you can change the color of the balloons in the screenshot.
- Via the menu item "Insert" you can add further elements such as clip art, your own pictures and photos as well as graphics.
- Click on the text to change its color. You can also define an individual text.
- On the second page you will find more space to design the card. In particular, enter text here. Remember the date, time and location of the child's birthday. If you have planned something special, you can tell us right here.
Print out the self-made children's birthday card
When the invitations are ready, you can print them out directly.
- Print the first page, preferably on thicker paper.
- Put this sheet back in the printer so that you can now print on the back.
- Start printing the second page.
- Then fold the invitation in the middle.
- Then cut out the card on the dashed line and put it in an envelope. You can now distribute the cards and prepare the children's birthday.
