The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Secret Easter Eggs
"The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" hides many secret Easter Eggs. We present five of the curious game content, which allude to well-known stories.
"Star Wars" allusion in the "Dark Coast Cave"
A skeleton hanging upside down from the ceiling in the "Dark Coast Cave" in the "Principality of Winter Fortress" alludes to Luke Skywalker's kidnapping in "The Empire Strikes Back". Under the skeleton is a glowing sword that is supposed to imitate Skywalker's laser sword. In the film original it went off lightly and the hero escaped the claws of the Wampa.
- The same Easter Egg was featured in "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind" expansion "Bloodmoon".
The "Mistress of the Lake" from the Arthurian saga
In the "Düsterwindtal" ("Principality of White Run") you will find a pond from which a skeleton arm protrudes with a sword in hand. According to the myth, the legendary "Excalibur" sword was handed over to Arthur's father by the "Lady of the Lake" in the same way as here in "Skyrim".
- In the practical tip linked at the end of the article, you will learn more about another Easter egg for the Arthurian saga.
Three billy goats and a troll
You come across the fairy tale originally from Norway and known worldwide under the English name "Three Billy Goats Gruff" south of "Markarth". The first time you visit the bridge, you can see two billy goats running over it.
- At the end of the bridge, another billy goat emerges from it. Then the three pull away together. Under the bridge is a dead troll, who was defeated by the billy goats as in a fairy tale.
- There are often dead billy goats lying around in troll caves. This could be another allusion to the fairy tale.
Running gag in "The Elder Scrolls": "M'aiq the Liar"
Attentive players of "The Elder Scrolls" parts III and IV may already be familiar with "M'aiq the Liar". The stray dog, originating from "Tamriel" and the people of the "Khajiit", is again traveling through the country with the banned drug "Skooma". You will meet him in different places and you should definitely talk to him as soon as you see him.
- As in the previous parts, "M'aiq the Liar" makes some comments about new or omitted game features. For example, he mentions that the armor in "Skyrim" can no longer wear out as in the predecessors.
"Kolb and the Dragon": RPG book in the RPG epic
You can find the book "Kolb and the dragon" in several places in "Skyrim". The special thing about this book is that it is written like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. A similar series of books in Germany is called "Decide yourself!" distributed.
- In key scenes, the reader makes the decision as to how the character should proceed and thus influences the plot.
- The book is, for example, in the house of the fisherman "Bolli", who lives in "Rifton". When you go up the stairs, it's on the ledge by the fireplace.
