Sharing services for cars have long been the norm in big cities. The provider Emmy also offers electric scooters to borrow. This practical tip shows you where and how you can use this service.
Rent a scooter with Emmy - it's in these cities
So far, Emmy is only available in a few German cities. However, you can already rent one of the electric scooters at the following locations:
- Berlin
- Dusseldorf
- Hamburg
- Munich
- Stuttgart
This is how the sharing platform for e-scooters works
To rent an Emmy electric scooter, you need to register beforehand. This works best via the Emmy app, which is available for both Android and iOS.
- In the registration process, you take a picture of your driver's license, which is then checked by Emmy. The normal car driver's license is enough to drive one of the brisk e-scooters.
- Once you are verified, you can rent a scooter. Emmy works here according to a simple principle: in each of the cities mentioned there is a business area within which you can ride the scooter and simply park it again. In the app you can see at any time where free scooters are in your area and how much battery they have.
- If you have reserved a scooter in the app, simply go to the respective location and open the scooter helmet box via the app. There are two helmets in different sizes and the ignition key.
- As soon as you put on the helmet, the journey can begin. You simply drive the scooter to your destination and park it there. Then stow the key and helmet back in the box and end the booking via the app. You can park the scooter anywhere in the business area - but no parking areas or private backyards are of course taboo.
Rent a Emmy scooter: that's the cost
Compared to public transport, scooter rental is not exactly cheap. But you are even more flexible and will probably get to your destination with more fun.
- The first time you register with Emmy, you have to pay a fee of 10 euros. But you also get 50 free minutes, which you can use within the first half year.
- Beyond that, billing is also based on a minute model. A minute costs 19 cents, regardless of the distance traveled. If you interrupt your rental, you pay 5 cents per minute.
- You can also use the scooter for a whole day at a fixed price. This is currently 24 euros.
